The Last of the Unicorns
Scientists working on the Siberian Unicorn fossils have made an amazing discovery. Unicorn, previously thought of as an imaginary being, lived with people.
The extinct giant rhinoceros, called the Siberian Unicorns, could have lived much longer than scientists had ever imagined.
In a recent study published in the journal Nature Ecology & Evolution, it was stated that there are Unicorns circulating among people in Eastern Europe and West Asia. This is also the period of Neanderthals and modern people.
Scientists conducted radiocarbon analysis and genetic analysis in 23 rhinoceros samples to reveal the life of the 3.8-tonne Elasmotherium sibiricum.
The Siberian Unicorns had lived in Russia and in Kamchatka. They are thought to be extinct due to environmental changes affecting the plant species they feed on.
The horns of Siberia Unicorns reached up to 1 meter in length.
Like rhinos living today, Siberian Unicorns were also struggling to resist environmental factors. Although there is evidence that they were hunted by humans, the reason why Siberian Unicorns are gone is not people.
